Do we honestly look forward to the time we feel fully balanced and adjusted emotionally? This ideal level of wisdom may motivate us to learn, but I honestly don't know many people who would feel content with nothing to work toward. Personally, I choose to believe in the benefits of imperfection and discontinuity. Society often teaches us to fix what is broken. Yet, its helpful to remember that our emotional entanglements, neuroes, habits and perceived problems are all precious sources of individual learning. We can learn to love ourselves in spite of and also because of our imperfections. This can result from conscious efforts.
