This was planned for a long time. I made the first database plans on a paper years ago.
mp3cdj is an mp3/vinyl/CD organizer desktop application specialized to DJs needs.
Why yet another organizer? Did you see any apps like this
for DJs? Google didn't. If you do, please let me know.
This is my first
own desktop product.
The first versions are Windows-only. After the first stable version is out and the product website is up, I'll consider rewriting the app to create a cross-platform solution. Until then, all ya' deejays out there, use Windows or live without features which might completely change your life.
Main features:
- repository support: import mp3s to repositories, specify repository size limits to be able to archive repositories (on DVDs, for example)
- unlimited level artists/aliases/groups support (x person is a producer, works under the aliases a, b, c and is in groups m, n)
- multiple files per remix support (to select the one to keep later), list duplicates
- labels/sublabels/releases support, partial
discogs integration
-
winamp support
- lots of statistics/charts: which labels do I prefer?, which artists do I love the best?
- multiple projects per DJ; store playlists' of recorded sets, put them into groups to auto-detect mixing items that you've played on that radio station/website already
- shopping module to help selecting records for the cheapest prices possible
Now for the technical part. This is one of the most complex desktop applications I've ever created. The database consists of 17+ tables. But thanks to
sqlite, it needs NO installation at all.
I'll keep this blog category updated as the development goes.
Finally, the first screenshots. Remember, these are only the basics after the first day of development.
